Computamus teaches the basics of arithmetic.

It's purpose is to teach arithmetic, concentration, and independence.

Within this program, the following points are tackled:

  • learning the four basic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
  • arranging numbers in increasing or decreasing order.
  • reading and setting the time.
  • numeration: Writing out numbers in either digits or words.
  • framing a number.
  • determining the equality between two expressions.


This software's objectives are:

For the student :

  • teaching basic arithmetic.
  • enabling quiet and effective training without noisy distractions.
  • presenting computer screens that are identical to the student's loose-leaf notebook.
  • offering a clear, clean, and well-written presentation, which promotes memorization through visual imitation.
  • teaching the student the mechanics of calculation and discipline.
  • offering the student the opportunity to monitor his progress. He will have access to reports that show his development over time.
  • offering the possibility to judge and estimate the time it takes to solve exercises.
  • making the student independent and motivated by having fixed and clear-cut objectives.
  • avoiding confusement by using complicated menus.
  • allowing the student to compare himself with a model student that has a good skill level
